Also known as Walter Read Reserve, the Paddington Reservoir gardens beautify the otherwise busy Oxford Street in Sydney. It is an award winning garden designed by heritage architect and landscape architect, Tonkin Zulaikha Greer and James Mather Delaney. Incorporating modern design into this historical site which was formerly a water reservoir from 1866 to 1899, this is an amazing architectural piece of work.
The water chambers were built below street level with a grassed park above, opened to the public in the 1930s. Today this place serves as a garden where you can stroll around and wonder at the historical architecture.

Paddington Reservoir Gardens Reviews & Ratings
A really nice place to relax. The serene environment is especially nice and the gardens are usually relatively quiet. There are also a few really nice grassy areas that you can either exercise on, or exercise. Kids love it here and they can run around there, having fun for hours. There is also a really nice water feature that looks nice and you can sit and stay there for hours either just relax or catch up on work or school or anything really. This reservoir is also in a perfect spot on Oxford St and you can come here whilst shopping or after lunch and do anything you need to. Would highly recommend to all ages, and anyone.
Peaceful park in the centre of the madness rich with history. Chairs are available to relax and read a book. also its a wonderful photo opportunity
Very, very small. I read a comparison to the hanging gardens of Babalon. I can only imagine those were more substantial. Still it's a neat idea.
A very popular inner city park. There seems to always be some sort of photoshoot happening there. No doubt due to it being something of a heritage and architectural re-purpose success story. Well worth checking out on a sunny day. Occasionally home to outdoor art exhibitions.
Paddington Reservoir on Oxford Street is a tranquil oasis in the city. Easy to get to by bus and worth a visit.
