Sydney Aquarium - Review
Sydney Aquarium is a vibrant and extremely popular tourist destination of Sydney. It is situated in the northern frontier of the Pyrmont Bridge. It features continental variations of marine wildlife and innumerable species of fishes and marine vegetation of Australia. It is designed to provide the best display and exhibition of the sea life using clear tunnels made of modified glass.
The major attractions of wildlife are the sharks and a functional replica of the world famous Great Barrier Coral Reef of Australian subcontinent. It primarily is of national distinction because it exhibits the habitation and lifestyle of the platypus of the Southern River Region, and the marine crocodiles and exclusive Barramundis of the Northern aquatic. Most of the fish here are preserved and displayed in the large exhibition hall of the Aquarium, the modern aquariums and floating glass-tunnel oceanariums. There are a few interactive zones as well. This aquarium is so lovely to visit on a day in the city. The facility itself is very neat and clean and set out in such a lovely way. I would recommend having more planned for the day as it is not that long of an experience but definitely a good one. The animals themselves look so happy and healthy and their habitats are always clean and well kept by the looks of things. Staff are friendly and more than happy to help with a photo or any facts if they are around. I would also recommend buying tickets online first just to make the day even easier.
I think you have to expect to wait in line to be served on one of the busiest weekends of the year however the service when you get to the front of the line is worth every second. We were served by a beautiful girl named Tessa who's smile absolutely lit up the place. She was extremely knowledgeable of the attraction and was happy to answer any questions my kids had about the little fishes they were about to see! A great family day out loved by all of us and made that little bit better by the outstanding service from Tessa.
The place is essentially a 2hr long queue on the weekend with occasional glimpses of fish through ultra thick glass that needs a good clean. Saw one poor family that had a wide twin stroller, couldn't get around some of the corners the place is that cramped. Do not come on the weekend if you have young kids! Skip school and come on a weekend if you want them to actually enjoy it.
To me this was one of the best kids attractions in Sydney. My little one absolutely loved it. I would have gone in a bit more prepared if I knew that it was so big. The size is a bit deceiving when you look at it from the outside. I will definitely visit again
Well it's as close to an aquarium as we're going to get in Sydney, and it's pretty amazing having such a place set up in the middle of the city. Exhibits a bit so quite good but given the limitations of the limited space in the city there is not much in comparison to some Aquariums overseas. However it makes a good tourist destination even if it's not a place for locals to visit regularly.
