Sydney Aquarium is a vibrant and extremely popular tourist destination of Sydney. It is situated in the northern frontier of the Pyrmont Bridge. It features continental variations of marine wildlife and innumerable species of fishes and marine vegetation of Australia. It is designed to provide the best display and exhibition of the sea life using clear tunnels made of modified glass.
The major attractions of wildlife are the sharks and a functional replica of the world famous Great Barrier Coral Reef of Australian subcontinent. It primarily is of national distinction because it exhibits the habitation and lifestyle of the platypus of the Southern River Region, and the marine crocodiles and exclusive Barramundis of the Northern aquatic. Most of the fish here are preserved and displayed in the large exhibition hall of the Aquarium, the modern aquariums and floating glass-tunnel oceanariums. There are a few interactive zones as well. It's a good place to go for half a day. Nice variety of animals and exhibitions to enjoy and learn from. The staff are knowledgeable and approachable. It's a bit expensive at the gate so make sure you buy group tickets if you're going with your family
Don't go! It's very small, hot inside, nothing to see, crowded endless dark corridors, it's not worth the money! Thanks for your response, really appreciate it! I was comparing Sydney aquarium to Shanghai aquarium which I visited month ago before travelling to Sydney. Shanghai aquarium ticket is much much cheaper, but there are so much to see! Impressive design, amazing entertainments for visitors, mind blowing light effects and more, not to mention hundreds different sea species can be seen there. I spent there five hours and it wasn't enough! Sydney aquarium needs a lot of improvement. That money they charge visitors could definitely make it possible.
It is like walking in to a zoo. Too many visitors allowed in for more money for the establishment. It is too crowded, you are always collide with other visitors. Air conditioning is not enough for the crowd. It is steaming hot inside you could hardly breathe. The ambiance is not conductive to entertainments and education. There is now crowd control. They should limit number of visitors by timed ticketing. You do not learn anything with too much noise and crowd. I do not recommend this place for visit especially when you have only limited time to be in Sydney. You have better off spending your time and money elsewhere? I hope that you heed my advice so you will not regret that I have told you so.
I have to say that I stopped coming after my experience from a couple of years ago but we decided to go again as we had friend's visiting. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. The aquarium is quite run down and the crowding inside is not only uncomfortable but I was actually worried for me family's personal safety due to the excessive number of people and prams in the walkways. Exhibits were okay but many seemed too cramped and glass was in need of a good cleaning. For a world class city, I would expect better.
Interesting activities such as boat riding while looking at penguins and being able to touch some sea creatures. Shark diving was a great experience for myself and for my partner. Great atmosphere to be able to take photos and nice structure where fun and learning can be done at once. Definitely recommend for kids as well as families. Fun day out.
