Sydney Fish Market - Review
Among the commercial tourist locations of Sydney, the Sydney Fish Market is a widely renowned market venture of Sydney. The market ranks as the third biggest market of fish in the world. Being favourably located at the seaside, the market includes a large dock for fishing and commodity transport. Besides it, this market also houses retail stores of fresh seafood, and fish eateries, along with a vegetable and fruits market, restaurants of sushi, bakeries and beverages, and also stores of flowers and gifts. The location of the Fish Market is in close proximity to both the business market of Sydney and to the sea.

Lovely fish market with lots of seafood options. There are several proper seafood restaurants as well as fish markets that sell seafood on ice. There's a lovely seating area outside where you can chomp down on your seafood pickings, whether its a bag of prawns and crabs or trays of oysters. (Be careful sitting outside though! The local seabirds are pretty persistent.)
Great and iconic spot for a family outing or a friends' gathering. I usually go by myself and still have a great time. Good variety of fresh seafood. Good value if you get fresh items. The fried or pre-cooked items, though very tempting, are underwhelming and will fill you up very quickly. Best to visit between 10.30-11.30am or after 1pm if you want to avoid the crowds and find a seat. It gets crazy busy between 11.30am and 1 -1.30pm. Also, beware of the seagulls if you sit outside. They are very very aggressive, drawn to food and are not shy around humans.
Where do you start...the plan was to go for an hour or so, lol, we ended up there for the whole morning and had lunch there too - some seafood were affordable some not due to their sizes. staff were very friendly and welcoming, but it is a very busy place due to the seafood being fresh. My partner and I ordered our meal and got a seafood platter of our choice, price was good considering what we chose. We loved it, awesome platter of seafood at an affordable price we thought. Be daring and try something new, you will never know unless you step out of your comfort zone and that my partner and I found it very enjoyable morning of exploring and indulging in the seafood on offer.
10/10 would go again, and have several times!. Great place to grab a long lunch and check out the view. You can grab a bottle of wine from the shop along with some glasses and enjoy it outside. If you like oysters make sure to try the Sydey Rock Oysters. They have a massive variety of fresh seafood to buy and take home. Check out the tours to see how it all works behind the scenes AND get loaded up on info and ideas for all the awesome fishes. Also the Seafood School is really fun and informative, even for people who think they 'don't need' cooking lessons!
3.5 stars - Famous fish market known for fresh seafood by the bay. Basically, you pick out fresh live seafood (lobster, oysters, fish, etc.) and choose a cooking style and enjoy your freshly cooked seafood - It’s quite hectic though – lots of people (including a lot of tourists), seats are difficult to find and a bit dirty but can check it out for a lively atmosphere. - For the food we ordered, the salmon was very well cooked. Oysters and shrimps were ok. Everything tastes fresh.
