Located near Jubilee Park, the Sze Yup temple is an example of how well Australia has kept the various immigrant cultures in its folds. Its structure is a rare piece of Chinese-Aussie settler history, built in 1898 by immigrants from the Sze Yup area of southern China. Dedicated to the folk hero Kwan Ti, this temple was opened in 1898 by immigrants from the Sze Yup area of China. Inside this temple you will come across the embroidered, green-robed image of Kwan Ti, flanked by two guards. Known for his loyalty, physical prowess and masculinity, he is looked to by supplicants as a wise judge, guide and protector.

If you want to see at this temple in its full glory, then visit it during the days of celebration of Chinese New Year when it is decorated at its best.
