The York By Swiss-belhotel, Sydney Reviews

  • Fabulous place. I give it 5 stars not because it’s 5 Star accommodation, but because for the money I paid it deserves this rating. I booked an unrefurbished studio room with a balcony. Easily the biggest room in Sydney for this price (I had a really low budget and wanted a balcony). Yes it’s old and a bit run down. But it’s clean and comfortable with full kitchen and separate bath /shower. So much room. I love it and will definitely be back. EDIT: we’ve been back 3 times since our first stay

  • I made a reservation over the phone with an extremely helpful staff member that found me exactly what I needed at short notice and even gave me a complimentary upgrade. All seemed well at first.. Until arriving at the hotel, jet lagged and exhausted, only to be greeted by a rude gentleman who was obstinate, difficult to deal with and RACIST towards my client (I will be following this up with Australian Human rights Commission and filing a complaint under the Racial Discrimination Act. - we videotaped the entire encounter). This is not how I want my country represented to foreign visitors. Absolutely unacceptable to begin with, let alone in 2018. The gentlemen then proceeded to ask me questions regarding my stay that were completely inappropriate, not to mention none of his business. I run a management company for touring artists, thus last minute hotel suites are needed frequently. Not only did they lose my business that evening (to the tune of $450) Having re booked at another hotel without any issue literally ten minutes after walking out of The York, it is safe to say that I will never be returning to this venue for business or personal stays. Management needs to train certain staff properly on how to treat a guest and take a long hard look at their business practices. The only saving grace of this business are the two staff members I spoke to on the phone (Dylan and Rose), whom are setting the standard of how to treat a customer, and were extremely apologetic and respectful. Your loss The York. I book roughly 5 hotel rooms a week - you do the math and see what your terrible customer service has cost you.

  • Central location, with plenty of room for a serviced apartment. Convenient to all public transport. Nice views from the balcony. Good value for the accommodation. Rooms may seem dated in decor, as other reviews have alluded. Would recommend.

  • Stayed in a two bedroom apartment. Great location, close to where I was heading out into the city. Building, room and amenities are very dated and could do with a refresh. View from the balcony was awesome. Car parking limited and difficult to find. Gates don't automatically open which caused a bit if frustration on arrival and departure. Nespresso coffee machine in lobby which is a nice touch when waiting.

  • Great location and homely Rooms. Was only a short stay but they accommodated all our needs and at a reasonable price point.
