Adorning more than 14 square kilometres on the east coast of Syracuse, the Plemmirio protected marine area falls under the ‘Specially Protected Area of Mediterranean Interest’. The park also covers around 2.5 hectares of the sea area protected for its marine life.

Even though the park serves the idea of preserving the local flora and fauna, the place also protects the history of the city- especially the hills of Amphora that are nothing less than archaeological treasures.

For animal lovers, you can explore the waters to find species of Tuna, Sharks, Dolphins and Curls along with gorgeous coral reefs. Find a local deep sea-diving club to explore the gorgeous marine life and if you love hiking, the park promises to show the less tamed life of the city as you explore its trails. The rocky coast is perfect for an evening walk as you soak in the view of the sunset.
