Taking the centre stage at Piazza Archimede, the Fountain of Diana portrays the goddess of hunting standing tall above a chaos of figurines. The statue of Alpheus looking at his love Arethusa as she turns into a fountain owing to the wrath of the river God and Diana coming to her aid, is an iconic story in Greek Mythology. Diana transformed Arethusa into a spring that found its origin in Ortigia.
The fountain adorns the beautiful square and a walk around the gorgeous piece of art, is probably one of the most lovely simple pleasures you can experience when in Syracuse.

Beautiful piazza. The impressive sculpture in the middle. You can take a table in the Cafe in front and enjoy that gem of Italian art and architecture.

Perfect sculpture. Great beuty
Great place to sit and watch the world go by. Surrounded by bustling and surprisingly reasonably priced bars and cafe's it is a beautiful and intriguing fountain that is well lit at night
Simply not to miss, in the heart of Ortigia. Beautiful colors during nights.
