How to Reach Syracuse
GET IN
- By Air: Catania-Fontanarossa airport is the nearest airport to Syracuse which is fairly close. You could take a bus from Catania airport to Syracuse, or take a train from the Catania station. It takes around an hour and a half to reach.
- Another nearest airport is Aero Porto di Comiso “Pio La Torre” (Ragusa).
- By Train: Two daily intercity trains run Rome and Naples continue on from Messina via Catania to Syracuse. It takes around 6 to 7 hours to reach Syracuse.
- By Bus: There are regular buses from Catania, Noto, Modica, Ragusa, Sortina and Gela.
GET AROUND
- On Foot: It is easier to walk around as the city centre is compact and has most of the tourist attractions.
- By Bus: At the AST bus station at Riva Della Posta bus No.26 run from downtown past Sanctuary Lacrime and Neopolis.
- By Rentals: At the Nolo Point they give out cycles, scooters, campers etc. on rent. Why not try these if you want to avoid walking.
