Old Town owes its name to the fact that it was the location of the original settlement called "Tacoma". In 1865, Job Carr built a cabin near the shore in anticipation of future land speculation due to the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad. (The original cabin location is marked by a plaque at the base of Carr Street. Job Carr Cabin Museumis a replica of the original, and is situated in Old Town Park. Old Town was sustained in its early days by fishing and lumber mills.
Great place to bring family and learn about about tocama, like i didn't know that this is the home birth place of Tacoma and he's the head person that made tocama the way it is today.
Was very fun for children ages 5-10.
Fun little stopping spot. There's some dress-up, old-time toys, and sometimes crafts that you can play with while there.
Though I'd hardly call it a museum, it's a very nice park for a picnic. It's really small.
