How to Reach Taichung

Taichung is a favorite destination among the tourists and due to its economical and industrial value, it’s quite obvious that the city is linked with the major cities in Taiwan through a well-maintained transportation system.  

GET IN

  • By Bus: The bus system to Taichung is the most preferable and convenient option. It also costs a little. You will get Tong-Lien Bus or Kuo-Kuang Bus from the bus terminal of Taipei Station. The tickets may cost between NT$100 to NT$350 depending on the day of your travel. The buses run many times an hour from morning to evening and the total time of the journey is around 3 hours.
  • By Train: There are many Taiwan High-Speed Rail trains running between Taipei and Kaohsiung that stop at Taichung. You can also go for a regular train between the two stations in about six minutes which is also accompanied by a free bus service to take the HSR passengers downtown, to the universities, and more important areas. Apart from this, you can use the Western Line, southbound trains, or express trains as Taichung is a major stop for all.
  • By Plane: Taichung has its own airport and for the tourists coming from different countries, this is the most preferred mode of travel. Although Taichung airport operates mostly as a domestic hub, it also offers a limited international service to neighboring counties. A flight to Taipei takes 40 minutes. But the High-Speed Rail takes you to Taichung in no time.
  • By Car: You can rent a small car from Taipei to reach Taichung at your own pace.

GET AROUND

Although the city of Taichung has a limited public transportation system than other major cities of Taiwan.

  • By Train: You can take a bus service from Taizhonggang road, SanMin Road, or from the train station and move around Taichung.
  • By Bus: In 2010, a new bus service has been introduced that takes the passengers around different points of the city free of cost.
  • By Scooter: Many tourists, like the locals, prefer to roam in the city on scooters.
  • By Taxi/On Foot: In addition to this, one can always opt for a taxi or explore some places on foot.
