Feng Chia Night Market, Taipei Reviews
Going to night markets is a good way to experience the local atmosphere. Feng Chia Night Market is one of the most famous night markets in Taiwan. It is a must-go place to visit for foreigners who stay overnight in Taichung. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of dining places and food stands with various cuisine selections including Taiwanese street food, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Cantonese, American, Thai, etc. In addition, you can easily spend + 2 hours and find yourself indulged in claw machines (toy catchers) or balloon shooting or marble pinball machines, or ring toss, which are very fun way to experience Taiwanese leisure activities at night market. There are many affordable apparel stores, shoes stores, sporting goods stores, accessory shops, and cosmetics shops. Some vendors or younger generation of Taiwan can speak English, and you can also get an idea from the signs or photos. Overall, it is a foreigner friendly place with bunch of local street food selections, leisure activities, and small shops.
Wow this night market is huge. we took 2 days and didn't get to go to every store. lots of thing to shop and love of food to try. the papaya milk is one of the must try. also they have a very good egg pancake that was really good crunchy and savoury. They also have a stinky tofu worth trying the sauce is very good, the tofu is soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside with a lingering taste. and to finish up they have a must try sweet yum deep fry ball. all this food less the $30USD about $1000NT for 2 people. must visit!
Honestly this place is such a fun experience! It’s a great place to shop for souvenirs and gifts. Definitely don’t buy anything without arguing and they almost always lower the prices once you negotiate. You could probably walk around the whole night market in one night but I’d do two night just to really experience it all. It’s a lively atmosphere and it just feels like a party street! I would definitely recommend at least going to walk around.
Big area of night market but most food are pricey and small portion... Good for supper but to be able to enjoy a full meal, be ready to spend a bit more.. Tasty food tho.
This night market used to be known as the most creative, hottest, fashionable and historic one of all Taiwanese night markets. But since the rent fee rises all the time, the shopping cost also follows. Nowadays trying local dishes here will cost you 2-3 times money than 00s. While parking is a BIG PROBLEM here, renting a bike/scooter riding here or taking a bus instead is better than driving your car..
