Home Hotel Da An, Taipei Reviews

  • I enjoyed my three nights in this hotel - I stayed in the deluxe original room, where there is a Japanese-style soaking tub. The room smelled really nice (they had an air-scenting machine plugged in with a cedar-like scent), and it felt calm and serene with good light from the huge windows and warm accent lighting around the room. The sunken bath with rain shower and glass all around was very elegant, however there aren't enough hooks for towels or horizontal spaces to place clothing/bath necessities. The toilet is separate, and there was plenty of shelf space and another hook in there, but those were pretty useless on the other side of the room. There can be a bit of noise from the floor above - some loud bangs that may have been from the sliding wooden doors - but in general it was pretty quiet. For this level of hotel and price, the breakfast was surprisingly bad - the hot food felt like leftovers, the scrambled eggs were rubbery, and the coffee/tea wasn't very good. Overall however, I enjoyed my stay and would stay again.

  • The extraordinary family suite is very spacious. Bathroom design not great. The shower should not face the door because no place to hang clothes without it getting wet. The open bathroom with double sinks will not give you the privacy to change. The private toilet area has a very strange smell. The hotel should place odor eliminator or air fresheners in the toilet closet. Since the concept of the hotel is your home away from home, the hotel should provide self-service washer and dryer. Location is very convenience. Hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful. In-room amenities are great.

  • Our kid is having fever on and off, and we have decided to postpone our trip to Taipei. We understand that it's not a free cancel booking, so we would like to check if there are any flexibility to reschedule the booking and we have placed the requested almost one week before everything. Though we have explicitly stated that we are willing to bear any cost for the rescheduling, the hotel has replied 5 days after our request and only stated that "under the policy, they cannot do that". The hotel claimed that they would like to create a comfort environment for traveler called that as home, and I highly doubted if the customer experience aligned with that. I only feel that the staff stay behind the policy, after five days, without offering any alternative solution / flexibility for their customer. If you are going to travel with your kid, please stay away from this hotel, and make sure you have place the booking with those free cancellation order.

  • Needs better food options. Breakfast was average and the restaurant closes very early, as do other restaurants nearby. Would.do well to point guests to options for late dining, such as takeout menus for places locally. Bathroom was great.

  • Nice, decent size rooms. Location is convenient for transport and shopping (Sogo etc) but it's not close to the park, night markets, or other Daan attractions. The area behind the hotel is worth exploring for boutiques and cafes. It was surprisingly difficult to get proper food in the evening - the hotel restaurant closes at 21:00. as do many places nearby. Room has universal power sockets and USB outlets. In-room safe won't hold anything more than a 13" device, though (A4 form factor). Check-in experience was not great - staff more focussed on charging your credit card than informing you about wifi, amenities or breakfast.
