Situated on the edge of the Taipei Basin, this suburb is very well known for being a popular tourist destination. Formerly one of the largest tea plantations in Taiwan, this area is a central hub for tea culture in Taipei.

Since it is located in a rather mountainous location, the entire city of Taipei can be seen from the numerous vantage points. There are small shacks and tea houses in the area which allow an individual to take part in tea tasting ceremonies.

Another point of interest about this area is the Maokong Gondola. This gondola lift system connects Maokong to the Taipei Zoo subway station. People should certainly take this ride as the glass bottomed carriages will provide a breathtaking view of the sceneries below.
