Taipei Fine Arts Museum - Review
Established in 1983, this museum dedicated to the local fine arts is a staple in the tours of nearly all first-timers in Taipei. The first museum in Taiwan built specifically for hosting exhibitions of contemporary and modern art, this museum is also important for promoting local artists.
Built on the former site of the United States Taiwan Defense Command, the architecture of this building is a local rendition of structures constructed during the Metabolist Movement which originated in Japan.

Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taipei Reviews
Your experience at this find arts museum will surely depend on the exhibitions you visit while there! I mean this as a compliment because the facilities, staff, cleanliness and access were generally very good when I visited. There is a small lift to accommodate visitors with buggys and wheelchairs. The exhibits were clearly labeled and obviously great effort had been invested in the background information on display and the translations of major texts into English. When in Taipei again I would like to make another trip there.
A very very good place to enjoy peaceful atmosphere and beauty. When you take your first step to visit here, you will find art is very easy to approach. What's more, the location is convenient to reach, and on Saturday evening after 5 pm it's free to visit.
When I was with my friend in Taipei, we visited also the Museum of Fine Arts. I was looking forward to see the collection of classical artwork, in particular some classical paintings. But we got very disappointed. The first what we saw in that museum was an exhibition about Taiwanese technical inventions. And also the remaining museum showed just modern art; no sight of true fine art. In that view, the name is confusing and should be “Museum of Modern Art”. But I cannot recommend that as a “Museum of Fine Arts”
Under renovation since months ago. And should be finished by end 2018. A great place to enjoy fine arts in Taipei. 10 mins walk from red line "Yuanshan station". This is the most convenient way to get there for visitors.
Although only a few exhibits are open currently due to renovation, it was well done before. Numerous exhibits or contemporary art and the like, housed in a modern and spacious building.
