Asakura Choso Museum, Taito Reviews
Fantastic museum, only 500 Yen entry. Volunteer guide who spoke excellent English offered to show us through. Very informative and interesting. Highly recommended.
Very beautiful little museum. You can't wear shoes in there but if you forgot socks they will thoughtfully give you loaners. The sculptures were beautiful as was the building itself
What's brilliant about this museum is that it used to be home to one of the most prominent Japanese sculpturists - Asakura Fumio. Visiting the museum is in practice walking around in the old Japanese house, with beautiful garden and very ascetic aesthetics. It's a genuine pearl, definitely worth visiting.
Spend an hour appreciating the beauty of the traditional house, former workshop and college of a master sculptor. Take your time and appreciate the peaceful views.
A beautiful gallery and the artist’s original wooden house surviving from the 30s. The house, courtyard garden and library were the real gems although there was a special exhibit of the artist’s well known cat sculptures. Sadly, no photos are allowed anywhere inside so that was rather frustrating. The English speaking guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly! Minus one star for no photos.
