Estonian Open Air Museum - Review
Reliving the historic times from 18th to 20th century, the Rocca Al Mare Open Air Museum is set on 14 farms that function according to the rural roots with its own school, church, mills, fire station, fishing sheds and homes. The museum offers hand made souvenirs, horse rides and even traditional Estonian food at the on-ground Inn. The place also offers traditional entertainment during special events.
If history is what you love, there is no better way to travel back in time and experience the workings of a small village than spending an afternoon here.

Estonian Open Air Museum, Tallinn Reviews
Please like if this review is helpful 👍 A great open air museum. Traditional antique farm houses, barns, schools etc. re-erected within the park with sound effects and explanatory text to explain the original purpose of the buildings. Clean, well laid out, interesting and in a beautiful wooded location next to the sea. The summer solstice celebrations are also held here and are a must see if you are here at the right time of year.
A really interesting insight into the agricultural and rural lives of Estonians through the ages. Visit the expansive woodland area and walk through various farms / houses from across the ages. "residents" will tell you about the buildings and way of life from each era. This was particularly useful and interesting although some struggled with English. The majority spoke Estonian / German / English so even if you aren't able to listen to all of their stories you'll manage some. There is also widespread signage with extra information, again in various languages. Expect to spend 3 - 4 hours here.
Big, interesting and beautiful. There is definitely a lot to see and much to learn. The houses are grouped by the area of Estonia where they are from and tell about the traditions from the areas. I had visited the museum a couple of times as a kid and it has come a long way since then. The houses are well furnished and every house has a person who can tell you more about the history.
Love that place. Not far from the Tallinn city center and it's just such a charming place to have a walk there. In side there's a Kolu Inn. It's a good place to taste some Estonian national food. RECOMMENDED!
Impressive open-air museum spans on a huge area. A good way to spend a day and learn about Estonia’s history as well as Estonian people’s old way of living. The installations are very well preserved and have great details. We rented bikes from the reception desk because we are tired of walking. It turned out to be a great idea because the museum is very big to be discovered entitrely by walking. I didn’t mean that it’s impossible but will be physically challenging.
