  • Extraordinary hotel and magnificent service! The location is great and the beach club is really nice. WI fi all over the place and the pool bar is good

  • Beautiful facility with spectacular high-up view of the ocean. People are friendly and very nice pool. Biggest problem is lack of support - e.g. not enough staff to bring up a room service menu. As well limited room service. Buffet breakfast very limited and only basic fare - e.g., eggs, but only scrambled. Tough walk 25 min to/from city center/beach (very steep road up to hotel) There is a shuttle, but not always convenient. Otherwise fairly isolated. Room is nice and clean with full wall sliding doors giving light and views, but simple - zen look. TV and internet are nice and all balconies have great views. Bathroom way too small and poor design - have to squeeze in and around door and shut door to get to toilet.

  • It is the most amazing view from the room. The service was almost extremely good. Bartender at the pool always hooks it up and the staff is always making sure you're having a good time. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Price during May was low (due to rainy season) but it was defiantly worth every cent.

  • Esplendor Tamarindo offers great value, good location and amazing views. The infinity pool and view is the focal point and you won't be disappointed. Rooms are comfortable, strong AC and excellent wifi. Breakfast is repetitive however it's done well and I found ways to enjoy it daily. All employees were friendly and some were just amazing (Jose at the restaurant was a gem - 'hi Tree hugger!'). The cleaning staff are all so pleasant and work very hard. The shuttle is convenient and Jesus the driver is accommodating and a very nice man. Although the shuttle ends at 8ish, I was able to walk up the steep hill or the dirt road with my friends - really no biggie when you're living it up Costa Rica. This hotel may not be a 5 star but it is not trying to be either. It''s clean, appealing, classy and simple and makes visiting Costa Rica a real pleasure. I would like to note that I had a personal issue during my stay and the manager Santiago and staff handled it well and professionally and left me satisfied. Highly recommend this establishment - you can't go wrong.

  • Pros: - genuinely nice staff, not well trained (fault of management) but very sweet and kind and hard working - the position of the hotel is amazing, each room has a magnificent view of the ocean blending in with the infinity pool and colorful landscape - closeness to Tamarindo downtown with all its shops and restaurants. It's a 3 minute drive down the hill and you're on the beach. - shuttle schedule is very good Cons: - bathrooms: the whole mold bathroom situation, I attached the picture, let it speak for itself. Also, one toilet paper-roll per room, no extra, you have to ask for it and good luck keeping up with usage so you don't run out of it right in the middle of business... - room has no "do not disturb"/"service please" tags for the door - bottled water - one night around 11 pm we went down and ask for bottled water (to buy) they said they ran out of bottled water, so the hotel didn't have any drinking water that we could take with us into the room. - hotel restaurant - the food was fresh and very good, however when I ordered lentil patty burger from the menu I was brought a burger with avocado instead. I was told they ran out of lentil patties so they replaced it with avocado without asking if that's ok with me. I had to wait extra 20 min for something else since avocado burger was not something I felt like eating.. (I am just glad it wasn't replaced with kiwi since I am allergic to it...) - no bugs treatment - in the rooms, common areas, nowhere. We went to have breakfast at a few nearby hotels (had friends staying there), same level hotels, less then two miles away from each other, no bugs (or much less to be exact). Asked around, were told the rooms and restaurant/buffet area are getting treated daily. Not in Esplendor unfortunately, it was almost impossible to eat with 10 flies flying around the plate! We travel a lot, recently being to Thailand and stayed at the hotel that was cheaper then this, the rooms were treated daily, it was part of housekeeping service (just an example) Conclusion: For some reason the feeling that I got staying at Esplendor is that the owners just kind of let if flow by itself.. whatever happens happens kind of thing. They have great people working for them, kind and ready to provide service but it's obvious there's no proper training. The peeling outdoor furniture on common areas that should have being replaced long time ago or at least restored, pool towels that are so old they are about to fall apart, all these things show poor management and lack of financial support. If any of the top management will ever bump into this review I would like to say: you guys have an amazing property! put some 'love' into it, good people work for you - train them according to basic international hospitality standards, improve maintenance and you'll become the best hotel in the area!
