The second non-profit wonderworld that is Tampa’s claim to fun fame, the Aquarium is home to about 20,000 plants and animals, most of which are from around Florida, but quite a few also from the rest of the world.

As an exhibit… it is unusual and brilliant, thanks to its layout. To help visitors relate to the importance of the natural environment, the progression of the attraction follows the journey of a single drop of water from it’s birth at Floridás fresh water springs through beaches, wetlands, a coral reef until it reaches the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Each of these themed exhibits cover the plants and animal life, and of them, the coral reef is especially magical.

Explore A Shore: A 2 acre Caribbean themed water garden for children to play in.

Dive with the sharks, Shark Swim and Swim with the fishes lets you become part of the exhibit! You need a scuba diving certificate for the first one though.

You may host events at the Aquarium. Contact them to arrange it.

Tampa’s most fun and interactive attraction, the Florida Aquarium is unique in the manner that it aims to bring enjoyment as well as awareness to all the people who visit it. • Very impressive. It was a prominent place to discover, not only the aquatic animal but also many other kinds of bird, snake, and python. It had a huge tank that had sharks swimming along with many types of fish. The shark presentation was excellent for kids. It would be better if there were more creatures, though. I had the chance to visit here for free as a volunteer on Halloween, so that, it was a great experience.

  • We love coming here, it's so bright and clean. Get your tickets online and skip the line and save a little money!! Be prepared to spend a few hours, there are many things to see and do. Pay attention and you can even see some of the animals get fed. You meander through different animal habitats while learning their habits and seeing them up close. Walking through the atrium you see birds flying overhead and catch glimpses of their nests. There is a touch pond where you can hang with the sting rays and then move through and touch starfish and other smaller animals. Learn more about Florida habitats and the animals

  • Great place for a family outing. The variety of sea life was plentiful and the layout of the aquarium was nice and made for a joyful viewing experience. The aquarium is located next to the cruise port also, my kids liked seeing the cruise ships at the dock. Be careful getting there, the roads that are fastest are toll roads and there are no booths to pay if you don't have a speed pass. They take a picture of your tag and will send you a bill.

  • Recently visited this aquarium and was disappointed, to be quite honest. Given the cost of admittance, I was expecting more exhibits and amentities. There were some cool exhibits. The lemurs, river otters and sea horses were all quite interesting. Other exhibits had merit as well. But you would be hard-pressed to find 2 hours of content there. There were a few encounters with staff, including an adorable African penguin. But when I inquired about seeing the other penguins, I was told they were not currently under exhibit. No whales, manatees or dolphins are at this aquarium. They do have a few sharks. To be fair, the staff was incredibly friendly and well informed. But I've been to aquariums in non-coastal areas that offer more for the price.

  • The Florida Aquarium is a nice place to spend a few hours. Excellent exhibits with hands-on stations. The aquarium is divided into different Eco-systems. Parking across the street is very convenient and the aquarium is within easy walking distance to restaurants, the Amalie Arena and Marriott Waterside.
