Nice clean facility. Went for the Octoberfest celebration, beer, brats, kraut, cabbage and German potatoes salad. The Downs holds other events at different times. Enjoyed the Weiner dog races. Will be back for live racing. Relaxing place with free parking.
Although we live close we do not go often. We have a great time when we do but it is gambling. If you think you are going in 2$ bets that quickly changes. Each of us places bets and it becomes a competition which I usually loose. . At the end a loss is a loss and the big pay day is hard to find. Enjoy the dogs and the races.
Love the horse racing. Hosts the annual Tampa Bay Derby and Sam F Davis Stakes. Both races feature Kentucky Derby hopefuls and top trainers and jockeys. Turf course is immaculate. Needs to do more to attract and retain younger fan base. The track's Mobil Wagering Account App does not function on busy days when wagering lines are longest.
Great place to watch the horses race live and simulcast......the best tip I can give....is to eat before you go..the food is average and very expensive..at least in the main area snack bars... The gift shop is great and has a lot of cool stuff ..on certain race days and special events it can get very very crowded.. for a race track the overall set up and design is very nice..the weigh-ins at the padock are clearly visible thanks to it's convenient location to the trackside action and the post race awards are done so close to the crowds you could hold you're hand out and almost pet the horses.....you can stand so close to the action at the finish line you have to hold on to your hat as the horses run by...
I have worked here and had the pleasure to see first hand a lot of fantastic horses and behind the scenes. Very well run and exciting place.
