With an array of gorgeous colours waiting to greet you, a walk in the Waipahihi Botanical Gardens is not just recommended but is an absolute must for nature lovers. Located close to the Great Lake Taupo, the stunning gardens are home to a huge collection of native plants, shrubs and trees- including camellias, rhododendrons, flax, kauri and rata among others. The gardens are also home to a number of bird species. There are picnic tables around the park and some of the them have a fantastic view to go with it!

The meandering pathways that are adorned with beautiful plants and the neatly maintain landscape with the untouched view all around, makes the place special. The gardens are a favoured venue for weddings and parties owing to its luscious landscape but on any other day, it is just as enchanting for casual visitors.

The best time to visit the garden is during the spring season (from October to November) when the flowers bloom to their fullest and the weather is apt for lazy walks. Don’t forget to carry a camera to take pictures!
