Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre Reviews & Ratings
A good place to visit before hiking to the park. Friendly naturalists on staff in the visitor center. Good advice and maps for day trips. My only wish is that the outside restrooms would stay open after they close the center. There is no where else to go nearby. I saw a mom and her child desperate for a restroom running across the street to a hotel. Not close enough for the child....
a pleasant town, but too many tourists. Food is mediocre. Views and scenery are interesting.
Visitor Centre is well worth the stop. Good information available here covering all sorts regarding exploring Fiordland. Wonderful setting right on the waterfront of Lake Te Anau.
Staff at a counter was very helpful and answered to all of my questions about visiting Milford Sound. I went there well prepared. The only thing they advise you to have enough fuel for your trip to Milford Sound because "there is no a gas station in the park". They are wrong, there is a gas station just behind the visitor center at Milford Sound
There are some real good landscapes on the way to Milford sound in Fiordland.
