Finlayson Point Provincial Park Reviews & Ratings
Beautiful park. Down sides include how close it is to the road. You can hear the traffic. Not much of a beach or dog beach. Water has larger boats which make it hard to canoe or kyak. Plus sides include amazing fishing, very close to town, amazing near by hikes and fire tower. Also close to another provincial park which makes a good day trip. Sites have good coverage.
Camped at site No. 20. Our second time at Finlayson Point. Last time we had site No. 29. These 2 campsites are connected at the top of a hill where the water tap is, beside vault toilets. It’s downhill from the water tap to each of these sites. No. 20 was smaller than what I thought with quite a slope and lots of tree roots in one part, leaving only a flat section for your tent. But lots of trees to help you hold up your tent and tarps. Most campsites have slopes and covered in pine needles. Lots of rocks and tree roots everywhere . Showers well maintained, washrooms tidy and clean and never a line up (except for the showers in the evening and nights!). Quite a walk to the beach but right beside playground and boat docks. Canoeing was the best part of our trip. Very peaceful among the Lilly pads. We got a canoe for 4 hours and used up only about 2 hours of it. With little kids that is more than enough time before they get tired or bored... I noticed that most campers liked to stay up late and sit by the fire or gaze at the stars, hence not too many early risers. We really enjoyed our 3 nights stay here and would go back. Though I prefer site No. 29, or something closer to the water.
We had a wonderful lot secluded by trees on all sides except roadside. Their is a small park for kids family oriented also canoe/kayak rental. You can dock boat on property. There is 2 beaches all though small the shallow edge is marked great for kids and on other side great for adult. Many places to sit by the waters edge to take on a relaxing moment. Park rangers and staff or often seen driving by and are friendly especially Emily the park ranger. Washrooms and showers including laundry facilities are super clean. Many potable water faucets all over park grounds. I highly recommend this park.
As close to nature as it gets. Incredibly private! During the day there are seaplanes coming through, which are noisy, but the kids JUST.LOVE.IT. I'll admit, I wish I had a camera with me to capture it. I left the phone in the truck on purpose. Facilities were clean as well. 5 star!
Great park! Facilities are clean and well kept. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Very nice sites. On beautiful lake Temagami.
