Kara Tepa is an archaeological site built on three hills in Old Termez in Uzbekistan with the Buddhist cave monastery near the Amu-Darya riverbanks. Dated back to the 2nd century AD, there are a number of temples and monasteries. The surface building is made of unbaked brick, while the interiors are decorated with ornamental paintings on Stucco plaster and sculptures made of loess clay. The carved sandstone architecture site needs Border permit to explore. The sight of the site will take you straight to the Indus valley civilization. The long-vaulted corridors, fragments of vessels, oil bowls bear witness to the life of the monks.
