Aristotelous Square is the central square and perhaps most important meeting place in Thessaloniki. This square by the looks of it might seem quite simple but there is always a lot of activity here that makes it a cultural center of sorts. It is named so after the famous Greek philosopher Aristotle who.

The most striking feature of this place is the sheer size. It is one of the biggest of its kind in Europe.  The huge square is surrounded by beautiful buildings like the Electra Palace that make it a real treat to see. Moreover there are several bars and cafes around in which you can enjoy the hustle bustle and activity in the square. It looks especially brilliant when lit up at night.

Another amazing part of the square is that it is also sea-facing. The gentle waves and the salty sea-breeze only add to the waterfront experience. It is certainly a great place to hang out in and take in the sights and sounds of Thessaloniki.

  • No comments for this Iconic square of Thessaloniki. A must place to go for every visitor to enjoy the nice cafes and sea view. However the city Mayor and also all who enjoy the place should be mo cautious keeping the area more clean and in a better condition as it’s so much visited and reflects the city’s and country’s condition. A Big Must for every tourist. My favourite place.

  • Really nice and big square. The statue of Aristotle is the symbol of the city and of culture. The square offers a lot of possibilities for shopping and having delicious desserts. Highly recommended to visit, even just for the symbolic importance of the place.

  • Lovely and lively spot to relax or take in the city. Many restaurants surround it, although mostly with tourist center prices. Great place to grab a snack and sit on the benches. Often many birds, children, and people selling things. Sometimes art and culture exhibits pop-up!

  • I'm in love with this city. Everything in Thessaloniki is amazing :) You have a lot of restaurants, coffee shops, souvenir stores. It's very pretty. On Sunday some stores don't work so better to visit when everything is open. Way better experience :)

  • This is a beautiful place for a walk. When you look towards the sea you experience a feeling of both peace and tranquility. There a many places to shop near here including a bazaar. If you are in Thessaloniki, this is a must go to place.
