The White tower is a lovely buff colored, stalky cylindrical monument that is worth seeing in Thessaloniki. This fort was once used as a strategic vantage point. As a result it has been attacked and damaged several times. The current tower is a replacement for the original one that stood there but still retains its name.

But this by no means diminishes the touristic appeal of the place. The lovely single tower stands imposingly in the town. Once a part of the walled city, it is now a huge tourist attraction and a very important landmark as well. There is a museum inside it that speaks about the glorious history of the tower and the city as well. It is certainly not to be missed while in Thessaloniki.

A beautiful fort in the city of Thessaloniki and worth a visit during your Greece trip. Destroyed and rebuilt many times since its establishment, it sees a lot of visitors everyday. • No explaining needed. Just go and take your pictures enjoy the waterfront, and have a coffee on one of the cruises. There's so much history behind the White tower, that it's worth asking the locals about it's past history. Think of it as a history treasure hunt. ;)

  • Very cool. Must see if you go to Thessaloniki. It was cheap like 4 euros each to get in. You can stay as long as you like and explore the whole tower which has like six floors. Old castle like places are always worth visiting I think. You can get a free audio tour headset. Tons of history. If you listen to it all it might take hours. We didn't have time to listen to more than two floors worth. Lots of pictures and displays and history. And you can go out on the top of the building and the look around at the view! Also you can take as many pictures as you want!

  • A historic landmark in Thessaloniki. The entry ticket is inexpensive. However, all of the information on the display panel are in Greek. If you do not read Greek, you will missed out on the details. The commentary on audio device is very brief. Thank you to the friendly staff.

  • Beautiful monument. Nice for romantic walks or not. :) good looking place. Near the sea side. A lot of nature around. You can find some small stores with food like donuts (they a bit different from the American style}.

  • The White Tower is one of the Thessaloniki‚Äôs symbols. The tower was for centuries part of the walls of the old city of Thessaloniki, separating the Jewish quarter of the city from the cemeteries of the Muslims and Jews. The city walls were demolished in 1866. Currently the tower is home of a museum dedicated to the history of Thessaloniki and is one of the city's leading tourist attractions.
