  • A must visit place for art enthusiasts. The original paintings by Raja Ravivarma are displayed there,Along with other foreign artists. You have to see this paintings to appreciate the true beauty of them. It’s not like what you see in the photos. They look absolutely stunning and lifelike. Each ticket was only Rs.20 but it’s worth each penny. Visit this place if you are planning to visit the zoo.

  • For art lovers who love paintings. This place is heaven as over can find wonderful realistic paintings of RajaRaviVerma. It has paintings of other artists as well and each one is very beautiful. One can spend hours there as the ambience is very good. After paintings one can also visit zoo which is few steps away.

  • If you walk along MG road from rly. Station or Padmanabham temple, you find secretariat buildings and lawn. Walk past the university area, soon you come to zoo, museum and Sri Chitra Art Gallery. Even if you are not a art lover like many, you will be transformed and mesmerized while seeing Ravi Verma original paintings. He has painted absolutely live scenes of yesterday's indian culture which is getting eroded day by day. Even after seeing his original hand made paintings for an hour, you may like to spend more time as you get emotionally attached. But 4 o'clock museum closes. Hurrying through the rest you see japanese paintings like Hokusai and Chinese and other Asean cultural paintings. Don't try to take a photo , not allowed, silly administration ! What else can I say.

  • Paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, his sisiter, brother, son and other famous painters in his time are showcased here. Also ancient paintings from china, russia, etc. Also are shocased here. But with painting apart from painter name, no other details are labelled there and the representative avilable there are also unaware about those details.
