Eglise Notre-Dame de la Couture is a 12th century church that marks the center of the city. What was formerly known to be Saint-Pierre de la Couture Abbey, is today an exceptional example of Romanesque architecture and design. Small as compared to the other churches in the city, the importance of the site is not less. Tomb of Bertechramnus in the crypt, a 13th century tympanum showing the Last Judgement and the tombstone of Jeanne Surlestanc in the crypt are some sites within the church which are a must see. The nave, the choir and especially the stained glass artwork of the ornate windows are brilliant, and make the entire church a colourful affair. While on your expedition to explore the best of the city, this place cannot be missed!
