  • This was magical, and not just because of our surname. The walk down a path through the woods was wonderful: beautiful flora and birdsongs, plus the not-too-distant sound of a flowing stream. The kids loved exploring the ruins, and guessing what different structures had been. The walk back along the stream was enchanting as well.

  • We have walked into Carey's Castle from several directions during different times of the year. It's peaceful and tranquil most of the time but during late evenings on summer nights the noise of scramblers and the smell of petrol exhaust can destroy the setting. If you know the trail system and like to jog, you can get a lovely workout accomplished on smooth paths, rocky lanes, and steep inclines. I've done all three and have the mud splatters to prove it.

  • This beautiful place is hidden away down a country trail 10-15min walk from the carpark. When you get to the Castle can hear the stream along with the sound of nature and nothing else. Which is really nice if you are wanting to get away from city life. The walk to and from the castle is really relaxing and great for a romantic stroll.

  • Lovely place to walk and relax. Beautiful Glenary stream running through it. A peaceful place!!

  • Great for a walk but you'd need to know the paths
