Located 25 kilometres from Tiruchirappalli, the Mukkombu dam extends for 685 meters over the Kaveri river. The dam was built in the 19th century by Sir Arthur Cotton and sits on the part where the Kollidam River (a tributary of Kaveri) branches out. Apart from its beautiful views, the dam has an amusement park, children’s play area, fishing facilities and also boating for visitors. The lush greenery that surrounds the dam, completes the visit and if you love nature and like to see places away from the city life, this spot is ideal for a short day trip when in Tiruchirappalli.
