Located around 16 kilometres from Tiruchirappalli, the Bhoominathan Temple has an interesting story. It is believed that during the Chola dynasty reign, one of the Kings was facing problems and it was discovered that the reason for his problems was that his house was not built with proper application of vastu (an ancient Indian study that is similar to Feng-shui and deals with the layout and structure of house using directions to monitor energy). The King was told to pray to Lord Shiva and with this suggestion, he built this beautiful temple after which, all his problems started resolving. Since then this temple is worshipped by people who have issues with land and property.

The architecture of the temple is by far one of its best aspects.  The east facing shrine of Lord Shiva along with a separate shrine of Goddess Dharma Samvardini form the main section of the temple.  Idols of Lord Ganesha, Brahma and Durga, along with idols of Surya, Chandra, Bhairava, Gaja Lakshmi, Chadikeshwar and a shrine of the Navgrahas, complete the temple grounds.

Notice the colourful entrances and tops of the shrines that are embellished with beautiful statues with depictions from ancient Indian scriptures. Even though not as grand as other temples around the city, the Bhoominathan Temple is still loved for its old-world charm and beautiful design.
