However you might be surrounded by strong sulphur smells at times, while on other days the smell of sulphur might not bother that much. The eggs boiled in sulphur steam make the outer skin black, however they tastes great. The surrounding view is beautiful and you can also get a view of Mt Fuji. Owakudani Hot Spring, Tokyo Reviews
Strong stench of sulphur but incredible scenery! Well worth a look. Museum interesting and kid friendly. Unfortunately hiking trail was closed when we went - worth checking ahead of time if possible.
Really nice place to try the black eggs. Supposedly adds 7 years to your life. Great views of a once active volcano. Now it remains hot springs and steamy backdrops
Awesome place! The museum is pretty cool. Can eat black eggs that are boiled on site turning the shell black on the outside. The inside looks and tastes as a 'typical' egg. Several photo opportunities also
There seems to be many people who are paying attention to hot spring eggs and mounds, please look back and see. The view of Mt. Fuji from here is amazing. There is no high mountain that blocks the front so you can see it as refreshing from the foot to the top.
Went up on the cable car with the Hakone pass which was totally worth the money. It was a cloudy day and couldn't see a thing but still had fun. Came up again a few days later and it was better view. Lots of fun seeing all the different black egg souvenirs. The museum explaining all about the geological stuff was well worth it and really interesting.
