The lawns are lush green and with trees that are changing color in fall or pink during spring. The garden is a blend of 3 landscaping styles of the French Formal Garden, English Landscape Garden and Japanese Traditional Garden that together bring in a flavour that is unique and a new level of relaxing. Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, Tokyo Reviews
Very nice way to spend a morning. It's big enough to have a decent walk (or jog) around and although it cost 200 yen to enter, there is a free greenhouse that is nice. Lots of little tea houses that are pretty standard fare, but good enough to have a lunch break at. There is a shrine of sorts which a bit concrete for my liking but I liked seeing the Japanese take on European gardens and the wildlife is superb if you're willing to wait. The Pokemon hunting is excellent too if you're still playing....
My favorite park in Tokyo. The park is huge and and there's always some new section to discover. Last time I went with friends and we were very impressed by the tropical plants greenhouse. It was the first time I saw a cacao plant! Even when it's busy you can always find a peaceful corner. It's well worth the small cost it pays to enter.
This is a fantastic place to hang out in Tokyo if you have plenty of time. Since it costs around 200 yen to access this park, you probably want to get your money's worth, so it is a nice play for a picnic and a relaxed day. There are plenty of water fountains and rest areas. Near Shinjuku station which is a short walk away, so definitely easy to get to. Some of the entrances may not always be open, so try using the Northern one whenever possible.
What an amazingly picturesque park. You could almost hold your camera at any angle and an awesome picture could be taken. Very clean and well worth the price of about £2! Some amazing spots in the park but don't be caught out by the fact that it closes at 4:30 which is quite early. Probably worth a day hanging out here just to take it all in!
It is extremely cheap for what you get out of it. Beautiful trees, flowers, and buildings. You can get a free map of the garden, in English as well, and there are many different styled areas to see. There is a French traditional area that is amazing, and there are Cherry Blossoms trees, sadly I went during August which was too late to see them blossom. It is 200 yen for an adult, which is around £1.40. The ponds within the garden are also extremely beautiful. This garden is a place you could spend 2 or so hours looking around every part of the garden, or you could take a book and spend the whole day there reading
