Located in the Sunshine City complex, the Sunshine International Aquarium will let you see a plethora of freshwater and marine creatures and also see the professional divers feed the fishes. Also known as the Oasis in the Sky, the Sunshine International Aquarium holds about thirty-seven thousand fishes from around 750 species in about 80 tanks. The highlight of the aquarium is the Sunshine Aqua Ring located on the rooftop that is unique in the way that you can see sea lions and penguins wading through the water even from beneath the water, as it is fully glass made. The glass tank is suspended, giving it a look as if the animals are swimming in the sky! The Sunshine Lagoon Tank, Ocean Sunfish Tank and the Jellyfish tunnel are other attractions.

Sunshine International Aquarium Reviews & Ratings
A remarkably great aquarium. You could easily forget you are on top of a building with how spacious and varied the aquarium is. I'm sure there are better aquariums in Japan but as a visitor the charm of it being on the roof of the building drew us in. The experience was really great though. The live shows were very entertaining and educational if you speak at least some basic Japanese and the penguin feeding was a particular highlight. This was a fantastic way to spend some time in Ikebukuro.
Very fun! Excellent collection of sea life, including a very neat jellyfish archway exhibit. The penguin tank can’t be missed! Good shows in the afternoon
Great little aquarium. We loved seeing all of the animals and fish, even some varieties which we had never seen at other aquariums. The octopus they have there is HUGE and terrifying. The seal show was cool, and so was the overhead penguin tank.
If you come for one reason...it’s the aerial penguin tank. Worth the ¥2000 admission alone. The aquarium itself is also worth checking out. Great selection of marine life. Tully’s Coffee located inside if you need food or a coffee break. Outdoor concept also makes it great outing on a sunny day.
A lovely aquarium! Many of the exhibits had feeding times posted. This aquarium had so many species of fish! The seals were fun to watch. While we were there some school groups were attending and yet it still didn't seem too crowded
