Tokyo Station, Tokyo Reviews

  • One of the most beautiful Train Stations I have ever visited on my life. The amount of detail and effort put on the architecture is just outstanding. Located in the heart of Tokyo, you can ride trains that connect to pretty much every stop in the Tokyo prefecture.

  • I have been through it twice. Both times I have had to ask for directions and received advice in error from the people that work inside the station. They each consulted their book and told me to go to the wrong spot, the wrong platform. I continued to ask until I got to the right spot. Two Japanese young men were directed to the same wrong spot as I was. After we stood there for about two minutes, one of them realized that we were misdirected, and took us across to the other platform just in time to get on the right train. I do not speak Japanese well. It is hard to tell where to stand from the ticket. The second time through, I gave myself over an hour layover, and then I asked many questions before I got to the right place. For country that invites and receives so much tourism, I find it difficult to navigate the train system. The Olympics are going to be chaotic if they do not improve their communication to outsiders.

  • Probably one of the most beautiful and well organized train station that I've been to. I was really amazed by looking at the flood of busy commuters walking/running here and there to catch up with their train. Though we found it very difficult at first to understand the signage and even more difficult to ask directions since most of the people don't speak English but on the second day we got familiar with the commuting system and we're pretty comfortable with the station along with other stations in the city. Using JR pass travelling in and out the city even more comfortable/cheap and a must for those who are going outside Tokyo. We just showed the JR pass to the train officer whenever we pass the train gate. Definitely, a must place to visit when you are in Japan.

  • It's quite clean and tidy. The staffs are polite but they could've put more English signage to help tourists. The trains are impressively on time. You can walk around the shopping mall above the station to kill time. It's easy to get lost here so be sure to remember the way. They have coin lockers so that you can store your luggages until midnight.

  • Very big and convenient station. It is located right in the middle of the luxury business district of Marunouchi. The main building is made of red bricks in a western old style and has been renovated. It's a beautiful station, and inside you'll find all the restaurants and shops you can imagine, plus a multitude of underground paths leading to all the main buildings around. Also a shinkansen station.
