Built in 1958, the Tokyo Tower with its height of 1092 feet is a reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower and has a few observation decks of 150 metres and 250 metres respectively to enjoy the skyline. At the foot of Tokyo Tower lies the Footown that caters as a multipurpose building with souvenir shops, event space and food joints. The Top Deck Tour is the most enjoyable tour of the tower. It will take you to the top deck inside a glass covered elevator that transforms into a glass window from where you can enjoy the past and present state of Tokyo. The gallery inside the tower will take you through the construction history of the tower as well as of the city. The Tokyo Tower looks magnificent during the night with around 180 lights and hence, it is called the “Landmark Light”.
- Wear comfortable footwear because you may have to climb up to the observational decks using stairs and you have to stand for a while. There is a considerable crowd so waiting time is around 30 minutes.

Tokyo Tower was erected in 1958 as a broadcasting tower. It controls broadcast signals for television, FM radio transmission and reception, and traffic information transmission in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The tower is also used for collecting weather and air pollution data. It soars 333 m (364 yd.) into the air. This makes it taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris, which was built to a height of 320 m (349 yd.) in 1889. Tokyo Tower is the highest self-supporting iron tower. The tower is a famous sightseeing spot in Tokyo and it has two observatories: one at 150 m (164 yd.) and the other at 250 m (273 yd.) above the ground, that are crowded with visitors enjoying the view. During the day, it is possible to see the buildings and green areas of Tokyo and Mt. Fuji in the distance. After sunset there is a beautiful view of the city lights.
Gorgeous view, great service. The wait on the weekend is insane though. Definitely a tourist spot worth seeing if you like heights and observatories. I’d rather go to an observation point with the Tokyo Tower in the shot.
Great view of the city of Tokyo . Amazing staff. Really liked all the shops beneath the tower as I waited for the queue. One of the must go places in Tokyo (especially for photographers since the mirror cage on the last floor is more than beautiful). Only downside? Pretty small space up there.
Got here by taking a bus from the Tokyo Station. Beautiful how it looks in the day, better when illuminated in the evening. Great view from the top, even better from the top deck. If you're afraid of heights, you can just go up to the main deck. Otherwise, highly recommend going to the top deck. Free binoculars for use too. A must visit.
Tourist trap. Don't pay to go right to the top as it is covered in scaffolding and hard to get a good photo. Half way is just fine but the glass is reflective and they currently have projectors Halloween themed on the walls and floor which ruined the experience for us. If you just want to see Tokyo maybe try another tower if you can.
