Yushima Tenmangu - Review
The city of Tokyo has many shrines and yet another Shinto shrine is the YushimaTenmangu (Bunkyo). The shrine pays respect to Tenjin, the Kami of Learning and sees many disciples worshipping in it. The shrine also sees a lot of tourists and travellers because of its iconic architecture and bright colours. The destination is also famous for its interiors that are no short of marvellous. One interesting thing to see are the wooden tablets called “Ema”.

Yushima Tenmangu, Tokyo Reviews
Beautiful shrine with a small garden. Like others have mentioned it is a big of a walk to get to.
I was there on early March; the season of ume or plum blossoms. It was drizzling on a late Monday afternoon. With a gust of wind which made the petals fall prettily... 🌸 Not so many people except for some students ‘praying’ for success I guess. It is closer to Yushima Metro Station. But for return route, you can walk to either Ueno-Hirokoji or Ueno-Okachimachi Stations; as the road is bit downhill with many tempting diners and cafes.
It was so beautiful! Lots of people come here to pass an exam. Best time to visit when the Ume blossoms. I came here when the Ume Matsuri took place, there were a lot of tourists and locals. They also sale some interesting drinks and food like 合格甘酒. Not really far from Ueno Park also.
I recommend you to visit this place in mid February to March. You can see beautiful Plum blossom.
Very nice traditional shrine with a long history. Also just a short walk from Ueno park.
