  • I have visited 43 state capitols and the national one in DC. Recognizing it had been years since I had actually toured our home capitol in Topeka, my husband and I went today. In all honesty, I have to say that the KS capitol building is one of, if not the, nicest in the country. I have always thought it was attractive, but the renovations/restorations of a few years ago, regaining original colors and patterns, while adding more light, have made it absolutely beautiful. The museum area in the basement is also really well done and a big surprise. The best thing, however, is being able to go clear to the top of the dome and out on the encircling balcony as a guided tour. That is unique in our capitol experiences and the tour information was entertaining and informative. All of the staff members were pleasant and helpful. I highly, highly recommend visiting.

  • Definitely the most amazing capital I have seen to date. And I'm up to 31states. Beautiful building with huge stone foundation blocks. Also a very rich history if you have the time to spend all day reading it. You can also climb to the top of the dome. Climb early though, it gets a little warm in the summer up top.

  • Tours on the hour, dome tours every xx:15. Amazing State Capitol that took 37 years to be finished. Worth a visit and make sure you go up into the dome. Even allows you to walk around outside at about 290ft high.

  • It had beautiful art and if full of history. My personal favorite thing was the library. It was stunning and the second floor is made of glass, how awesome is that. The staff is very knowledgeable in the library and the tours of the capital itself. I have so many more I want to add, but I don't want to ruin your fun. Will definitely go again.

  • At Black Label Transportation, we love that we can partner to showcase what is routinely recognized and showcased as one of the most beautiful State Capitol buildings in our nation. You must definitely see and tour to truly appreciate this over-the-top structure.
