Art Gallery Of Ontario Or A G O, Toronto Reviews

  • I took my niece's here for the first time over the March Break and loved the experience. I was amazed at how huge this place was and the variety of art and sculptures there was. The architecture of the building was great for displaying the pieces and as we moved through the different areas we felt a different experience with the changing room colours and lighting. Absolutely loves the large open space at the front top most floor with the cafe and sitting area. The view of the surrounding area was nice. My favourite was the display of model ships. The level of detail was incredible!!

  • First time here this week and I liked it. I'm glad majority of the part is older paintings cause modern art really confuses me. A recommended route would have been nice for anyone new. I think we managed to go the right direction to take the eras in order, but with so many rooms adjacent its hard to know if a right or a left is the smoothest way to cover it all.

  • Amazing guest artists. Watch and see who the featured artist or artists are for the month. There is something for everyone you just have to check before you go as different people are featured at different times. Check website for prices, as there is double even triple prices to see each artist on each floor depending on how big the exhibit is. Real great for the kids and all ages if you watch for the right artist... usually a must see for anyone making a trip to this amazing city we have ☺.

  • AGO has so much art to offer. A paradise for the art lovers. The European paintings were very lively and gorgeous. It may seem a little pricey for some, but it has lots to offer. A full tour of the place can easily take an entire afternoon.

  • Gorgeous exhibit of the arts from most of the modern period from 1400 and onward. The variety of studies on display is inspirational. However with much of the gallery dedicated to European artworks, it leaves little for the post modern and other hemispheres. The Group of Seven is a noteworthy exhibit for any visual artist but the photography exhibit does need improvement. For the cost of entry, it is worth seeing. The location makes for a great date location as its located to Chinatown. The gallery also offers a fine dining establishment. Some exhibits are not kid friendly as they contain mature subject matter. The AGO goes offer a programme for kids and schools.
