Buddha's Vegetarian Foods, Toronto Reviews
From the outside, the restaurant looks like a hole in the wall. But, don't let this fool you. The restaurant doesn't have too many seating options. The decor is a little run down. I recommend take out due to seating logistics. The food was really good from the first bite to the last. The portions were large. I went with one other friend. We ordered a medium hot and sour soup- this could have fed 4 people and we struggled to finish this. We ordered 2 other dishes, crispy ginger beef and stir fried veggie shrimp with lotus root and vegetable. We didn't intend to finish all our food and was going to pack the left overs. The packing plan did not go according to plan because we ended up eating every last bite. I intend on going back to try other dishes.
As a VEGAN it was so nice to find a restaurant in the city that serves traditional Chinese food that is friendly for vegans! I think most if not all food here is vegan, and it even appeased my bf who is not vegan with the wide range of imitation dishes it offers. Truly delicious! & the staff are super polite. My new favourite restaurant. 💗💗💗
Food was good. Each dish kind of taste very similar to each other. Not a fan of tofu nor mock meats so, even though it is a vegan place, still limited in options. They would not substitute rice noodles for mung bean noodles as I do not eat rice. Everything else very corn starchy slurry. The big black mushrooms are really hard to eat. But enjoyed the long mushrooms more.
Love this place. Greasy vegetarian takeout that really hits the spot. Great value for the price. I love the pepper salt tofu, comparable to what I had in China. My wife loves the "chicken" balls.
One of my favourite vegetarian restaurants! Great service and the manager is absolutely lovely. He once offered me free food because he thought I was a food blogger and insisted I take the food, even after I clarified that I was a regular customer. They offer a wide selection of mock meats that are typically found in Chinese cuisine. My only criticism is that the space is small. Though they have a seating section in the back, the restaurant is still quite small during busy periods.
