  • Food was alright. Fried rice seemed old and dry, the egg was sort of paper like. The chicken balls were heavily breaded and was a hit or miss on a good one or a giant bread ball. The beef with veggies was great, tasted fantastic and low on sodium. Complimentary tea was good as well. Enjoyed our visit.

  • So I guess I'll be the first individual to talk about the article and how I'm against it, contrary to what many people believe. First of all, I want to let you all know that I DO NOT agree with the article. There are many misleading facts and inaccurate information presented in the articles across local news, including The Globe and Mail, CBC, etc. This is my personal take of the issue: Hong Shing 's restaurant is located in the downtown core of Toronto and the establishment was founded by a few Chinese immigrants from Guangzhou, China. It was difficult for the founder and workers to earn enough income in the beginning of their business, but their success grew each year with many new customers. I know the founder personally and to be honest, he is a very knowledgeable and respectful individual. However, with the occurrence of this incident in 2014, many customers have been shocked and vowed to never visit this restaurant again. And do you know what I'm gonna say to them? Y'all STUPID and IGNORANT. Just because a black dude with his friends received the advantage, that doesn't mean that you should downgrade this place and jump to conclusions. Mr. Emile Wickham and his friends are current students of York University. Records show that these black individuals have been warned multiple times by authorities and even received an offense (I've been doing some deep research). It was not surprising that the servers at this restaurant told the group to prepay before they could have their food. The restaurant had to create this policy for such individuals because of security reasons. In fact, I highly encourage the restaurant server to report such individuals to the authorities if they do not comply with the restaurant's policy. The restaurant staff just wanted to make sure that the dining environment and atmosphere is safe for other diners. To conclude this statement, this is NOT a racism issue, again, I repeat, this has absolutely NOTHING related to racism. I wanted to point out to everybody here in Toronto that I am not at all racist, and as a matter of fact, I support cultural diversity including the Black Lives Matter movement. But while I was reading these articles, it angered me personally on how a group of blacks decided to target a local Chinese restaurant by reporting the business to the Human Rights and thus forcing them to pay $10,000. This is all very sad for the restaurant owner and staff. After such incident, I suppose their business will be posing a declination in customers. The lawsuit against the restaurant is like leaving a black mark on a clean sheet of paper. To say that this restaurant is racist is a complete lie and it shall never exist under the restaurant's new management. Period. Note: I used files from multiple sources to create my final conclusion on this incident.

  • This place is great. Good food and quick. My mom goes here so much that she's friends with the workers, they know her order by heart and treat her very kindly.

  • Very slow delivery service, took more than 2 hours for a 5 min delivery drive. RUDE customer service with bad attitude and bad accent. Money hungry and poor foods and customer relation. Don't order your food from them, you will regret it.

  • I went here with my friend and we ordered sizzling chilli chicken, beef schezuan, sizzling beef in black pepper sauce. The beef is amazing! I've never had anything like that. Black pepper sauce was really good and they pour the sauce on beef at the table which is kind of cool. They also give complimentary tea which is great to have either after or before your meal. Reasonably priced. Interrupt decor could be better. Cutlery too. Staff is friendly. Overall good experience.
