Steam Whistle Brewing - Review

If you’re a beer drinker and you’re in Canada long enough you’re guaranteed to eventually hear about this brewery. They make one beer, and one beer only: a GMO-free traditionally brewed premium Pilsner that they serve in bright green bottles. And Toronto cannot get enough of it. Which means that even if you forego the brewery tour, your trip to this city will remain incomplete without at least a 6-pack sample of their delicious drink.

And don’t forget to ask them which food item from their menu is best paired with the beer. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Toronto Itinerary 7 Days.

  • The staff are amazing, knowledgable and funny. They go the extra mile to make sure you have a great time. The atmosphere is welcoming and truly makes you feel like you're part of the brewery. The tours are fantastic, I've been about 5 times and can't get enough. Most recently I had a great tour from Beau. He really went the extra mile to ensure everyone had a great time despite having a large tour group. Every tour is unique and I'm constantly learning new information and fun facts. The beer is refreshing and crisp, and they have great food options like pretzels to keep you full and happy. The brewery itself is beautiful and well maintained. Every time I have out of town visitors I bring them here and everyone always loves it. Can't recommend enough!

  • One beer available, and it is delicious. Light, full bodied beer. Staff is very friendly and will even let you keep some pint glasses. They also offer small food bites to eat. They have a free brewery tour and you get to taste the beer after. Family friendly spot with lots of trains to explore. Check it out. Well worth it

  • I highly recommend the tour ($12, includes a couple of beers). The story of how the company came to be be is interesting. Noah, our guide was funny, entertaining and knowledgeable. Make sure you try the unfiltered beer - very tasty! It was a beautiful day, so we stayed to enjoy more beer on the patio which overlooks the historic trains. A fun way to spend 1-2 hours before the Blue Jays game.

  • I'm fortunate to have personally met Cam, one of the “Three Fired Guys” who founded the brewery. He, his company and their beer do truly all have that 'fifth ingredient' - passion. The beer is delicious, smooth and natural. I sent all my adult children down to take its official tour, and yep, they too all loved the people, the environment and of course the beer. It's no wonder they have so many beer and best-managed-company awards filling up pages on their website. Great beer, great people.

  • Steam Whistle is without a doubt one of the best Canadians beers around, a favourite for many beer connoisseurs (including Snowy Owl). If your downtown Toronto, you’ll want to make a stop at the Steam Whistle Brewery, which is actually converted from an old train repair station (hence, the name of their brewery “Roundhouse”, which is where trains were fixed, and their logo of a “locomotive whistle”). If you’ve never tasted it before, they offer one cup of free Steam Whistle on the spot, no questions asked. If you’ve tasted it before, you most likely enjoyed the taste, and simply get a free glass of delicious beer. They also offer tours to show you how the beer is brewed. The ultimate Torontonian experience is to buy tickets (preferably against the New York Yankees) to the Jays game (Blue Jays) then, before the game, head over to the Steam Whistle brewery for some beer, then head on over to the Sky-dome (where the Blue Jays Play) to watch the game.
