Yonge Sushi, Toronto Reviews
Amazing sushi but not too much variety. If your looking for some awesome sushi and rolls this is your place. If your looking to pig out with a giant all you can eat menu, you will likely be disappointed. One of my top 5 places for a spicy salmon roll. Also a great option for mid-day lunch breaks as they have a few great lunch options. Keep it up!
My husband and I dropped in for lunch and, firstly, I agree with some of the other reviews which rightly point out that you wouldn't necessarily go into this place if you judged it from the outside. There are several more 'upmarket looking' sushi restaurants nearby, BUT if you check the reviews you will find the quality of the food here is highly recommended. The outside veneer is dusty, quite worn looking, although the inside is quite welcoming and nicely decorated (have seen MUCH more basic in this area of Yonge Street). Now, we were visiting for the first time and had also not been in an all-you-can-eat sushi bar, so pardon me for pointing out the procedure, but I thought it might help for those also making their first visit. Many of the reviews here assume we all understand what 'ordering some, then ordering some more' means etc. Anyway, you arrive and are given a piece of paper with all of the lunch options on (basic descriptions only), from starters to desserts. You are supposed to take a pen and tick which ones (and how many portions) you want from each, e.g. where there is 'one roll' on the menu, you and your partner can choose however many you want each, where a roll means 6 servings, you are advised to choose only one, etc etc. We chose spicy crab, tempura shrimp, kamikaze roll, chicken fried rice x 2 (wrong, we should have just had one!) and mango ice cream. If you eat everything you order, you can order some more! The restaurant do serve in order, so it's best to order starters first, then entrees, then dessert will be served to you last. I can honestly say that every single dish was absolutely delicious, fresh, tasty, bold and subtle flavours and perfectly sized portions. The service was great as well, the place was crowded with the 'young and trendy' but, although there was only one server, she worked really hard, efficiently and helpfully to get people their food as quickly as possible. Something that is stated on the menu and which is helpful to know is that they politely request you not to 'waste food' as you will pay for anything that isn't eaten. Fair enough, it's pretty cheap anyway. We couldn't eat one of the two portions of chicken fried rice and only got charged $3 for it and, along with some delicious mango ice cream, out bill was an extremely reasonable $44. We left extremely happy and satisfied and will definitely go back there. I would advise you to order a small amount of food first, eat it then see if you are still hungry before ordering more. Highly recommended.
Fresh, delicious, great proportion of rice to fillings. Fantastic price! $25.99 on a Thursday night. Will definitely return!!
The food at this place is delicious, but the rude attitude of the server brings all that delicious food rating so low , that you wish to invest that money in a place that gives you both yum food and good attitude and moreover doesn't make you feel like an inanimate object. The people and servers are rude and expect to be tipped despite of their atrocious rudeness and also throw a ruckus when you refuse to honour their demands of tipping them!!!!!!Expect slamming of plates and glasses ,rolling of eyes ,harsh tone ,counter questions all topped with lots and lots of bad attitude. Spare yourself this mistreatment. Go here to disrupt your piece of mind!
I went with my boyfriend on a Monday. It wasn’t that busy. The place is cozy. The server was really helpful. We got all you can eat lunch for $15.99+tax. I don’t recommend to get the beef or chicken udon soup.
