Zipperz, Toronto Reviews
Great place for an impromptu dance party. Too bad they tore it down.
Loved it. Amazing musics. The crowds does lean on the mature sides but the bar staffs beyond nice.
Was a great place to go dancing but it is now closed and will be moving to a new location.
It's what I had hoped for. Wonderful. Characters. Tawdriness. Lots of people who've made bad choices in life. Lots of white people who can't dance dressed like it's 1982 in a small town disco. A nice even mix though with some hot guys who are communicative and friendly, also lots of guys in half-drag and real women in full drag and 'chanteuses' who belt it out, friendly staff (I had a great triple energy drink with lime juice), plenty of lesbians and some straight women too, some of the women with cool 80's looks, the cruising is not hard and desperate but it's there (well, ok, some of it was desperate) - people who look real, not like the canned living-dead garbage of mainstream life today. I had such a great time. Such life! I probably shouldn't write this review because I don't want to see it ruined by a common crowd and lookie loos, but my cup overfloweth. Freaks only! Best gay bar in Toronto for sure. There's even a bit of a scene out on the sidewalk in front.
It's hillarious that this old standby - this authentic Canadian queer neighbourhood Honky-Tonk, doesn't need Google for anything. It doesn't even have a website. I honestly don't know why they even bother with a telephone. I'm going down there for a beer now. As I recall everybody's there on Sunday night. Better be quick before they tear it down to build yet another boring condo tower.
