This commune, situated west of Toulon, found its industry in ship-building but is today shifting to tourism. As such, there is a wonderful family beach here you must check out – the Les Sablettes Beach (Plage des Sablettes). It’s non-commercial, long and sandy, and there’s a pretty and small promenade that runs along it. There are restaurants nearby where you can pop in for a bite to eat.

In town, you will also find:

• Fort Balaguier – which houses a small municipal naval museum.
• A small amusement park.
• Morning fish-market by the quayside
• The Church of Our Lady of Good Voyage.
• Grande MaisonTamaris: a magnificent villa that now housesthe Michel Pacha Institute; there is a modern art centre inside you may want to check out.
• A beautiful cornice to walk along.

All in all, a surprisingly good and relaxing trip out of Toulon.
