Cathedrale St Etienne De Toulouse - Review
If the cathedral looks a little lopsided from the front, it’s because it’s not one complete church; it’s two incomplete ones, one from the early 13th century and the other from the late 13th century. The church is thus full of contradictions; an Gothic tower of a Romanesque foundation, unsymmetrical nave and choir vaults, a five-bay choir that dwarfs the older nave, stained glass from every century, beautiful tapestries about 400 years old, a pretty rose window and a Baroque retable of the high altar. The fountain and square outside the cathedral are reported the oldest in the city too. To the visitor it’s at once magnificent and melancholy.

Cathedrale St Etienne De Toulouse, Toulouse Reviews
The interior of the cathedral is a pretty sight as well as the exterior. The cathedral has walls that look like razor.
Lovely look cathedral. If it wasn't for my persistence I would never have even known it was open to the public. From the front door there is nothing to suggest it was open until I pushed at a door to the side and ventured inside. Sadly, like a lot of these old churches parts of it seemed to be in the need of some TLC, but they don't get the money they need so what can they do. Otherwise there were some really nice features to take in included some really breathtaking stain glass windows. Well with the visit.
I spent a good time it's nice place :)
Really interesting church in that it seems to have been built in two sections. Only church I've ever been to where the rose window did not face the nave, which was a really peculiar effect.
Very beautiful cathedral, though as of January 2018 it's being repaired.
