Japanese Garden - Review

Peter Baudin commissioned this garden when he saw Dublin’s Japanese garden and decided that Toulouse needed its own. Still they put more effort into this particular Japanese garden than most. Its arranged around a lake, which symbolises a mirror and the island in its centre symbolises the paradise of Horai. In this manner every element of the garden like rocks, plants, and the landscape represents something or the other. There’re a tea pavilions, a bridge, lanterns, different sorts of bamboo, cherry blossom trees, colourful blooms, and a Zen (pebble) Garden – all classic and standard elements.

All combined, they make one of the prettiest and most tranquil getaways in town. It’s a terrific place to have lunch on a hot day..but will manage to look good in any weather. Heck, in the rain it’s downright romantic.

  • Peaceful and well maintained. Perfect for a peaceful walk with or without the kids. Interesting and informative information boards and lovely zen gardens. Enormous koi fish! Great to clear the mind!

  • I was quite surprised to see Japonais Pierre Baudis Garden. I think it is wonderful to see some changes in style after some sight-seeing in Toulouse. A lush of green and the park had a lot of people during nice weather. If you like nature, come here.

  • One of the most iconic places in the city. Beautifully designed to transport visitors into another world for a brief moment, this public garden does not disappoint. Whatever the season, it will stun the observer with its koifish pond, Japanese-style building displaying interesting information about the park and well kept vegetation.

  • Great design, very flat but interesting walk. A lot of Asian influences (flowers and shrubs) but very Japanese. Great place to unwind whilst grrrraking a stroll.

  • A very beautiful and exceptionally well maintained garden. It is a garden located inside the park of Compans and is walled separately with a small entrance. The lake, bridges and Japanise building are lovely and its setting often used for wedding photos. There are many places to sit and relax with benches and floor areas. Dogs are not allowed in this garden!!!! A definite must see in spring fornthe lovely blossom or autumn for the changes in colour.
