The Second World War changed the world, and there are many popular perspectives of it. This museum specialises on seeing the war through France’s eyes. First it details the events leading up to the oppression: the rise of fascism, the Spanish Civil War, the fall of France. Then it covers the Vichy regime, the rounding up and deportation of Jews, the first resistance, Laval’s public advocacy of a German victory, the formation of intricate networks, the role of foreigners in the resistance – the museum stands in commemoration to all this. It’s all backed by a lot of the original memorabilia. There are also a lot of materials that scholars and documentarians can come and review in the on-site library. Intricately detailed, intelligently organised and infinitely immersive, the museum is must see for any history buff.

Bravo. 13/12/16
