Townsville Palmetum is botanical garden with a collection of six subfamilies of palms. This place has a dry tropical area environment with the wet tropical lowlands. Officially opened in 1988, this place at present is the collection of about 300 species of palms including all of the Australian palms. The Townsville Palmetum has facilities such as shade shelters, picnic tables, picnic facilities, drinking fountain, and carving parking area, among others. The garden is open throughout the week from sunrise to sunset.
