Wild Kerry Day Tours, Tralee Reviews
Great tour with beautiful sight seeing opportunities. The tour guide was very knowledgeable but a little gruff. He did not present a problem for us, but he did verbally reprimand a group of ladies for talking on the tour. So, be aware, there is no talking on the tour bus. The views from the restaurant that the tour stops at for lunch is breathtaking, but the food is subpar and overpriced. There is a sheep herding demonstration, which is the best €5 I have ever spent. If it is an option that day, just do it! The tour also stops in a little town for 45 min so you can so some shopping. Not really worth the stop. The last stop is a photo op. of Lady's Lookout. It was a beautiful sight. However, our guide did leave 2 people behind. Several people on the bus told him there were 2 people missing, but he drove off anyways. My advice, be on time and return when he says to return. Overall, definitely worth it. Just be aware of time and talking.
This is the office and meeting spot for bus tours led by Wild Kerry, though the shuttle van will take you to meet the bus just a bit north into the city proper. On-site parking is advertised; this is curbside in the adjoining block, but I needn’t have worried as there was plenty of room. Our driver/guide was Mr O’Neill, who was spectacular, funny and knowledgeable. He was chatty about the city and adjoining area as the tour first got started, but then let the scenery speak more for itself as the views became more spectacular. (Prior reviewers: this is a plus, not a minus.) The stops were in small pulloffs, usually with just a shop, pub, or cafe with a naturally great view, rather than the villages, because the timetable was adhered to strictly so as to fit all the stops into the allotted time without running late or leaving behind any straggling explorers. (If you want to explore the Kerry villages at your own pace, take public transit or drive yourself!) it’s a sightseeing tour, and the schedule ensured that all sights were seen. Last note: there is no need to spend any extra money, though there will be opportunities. The famine village exhibit and sheepdog demo were well worth it at only 5 euros each, and the lunch stop (Scarriff Inn, Caherdaniel) will be much-needed by the time you get there.
My girlfriend and I were were disappointed by the tour. The guide, who is also the driver, at the beggining of the tour very talkative, explaining lots about the landscape and stuff and sharing lots of anecdotes, but as the time passed, he becomes more and more quiet, eventually saying "this is ..., that is...". The stops he makes wasn't that great either. He only stops in place were there is only one shop or one inn, which are obvious tourists traps. We never stops any villages like the other tours, and when my girlfriends complain to him, he said that it's an sightseeing tour, so why the stops at the shops? We also didn't stop to famous places like ladie's view or see the skelling michael... I don't recommend this tour to anyone.
Exceptional tour from this guy. He’s a local so he knows his stuff
We took this tour and and had a great time. The high points were the views our lunch with the views and the number one demonstration was the sheep dog handler.
