Trim Castle is Ireland’s largest Anglo-Norman Castle which was built over a 30-year period by Hugh de Lacy along with his son Walter. Covering an area of 30, 000 square meters, it is also Ireland’s largest Normal Castle. The central 3-storey keep’s design in distinct for a Normal keep and is in a cruciform shape and has 20 corners. Trim Castle is also renowned for being used as a shooting set for the movie “Braveheart”.
